clutch issue?

Does it ever pop out of 5th or reverse?

Mis-adjusted clutch, stretched cable, mis-adjusted shifter stops (if you have an aftermarket short-throw shifter), bad bushing in shifter and bent shift fork are all things that can lead to difficulty engaging a gear. If it started when the clutch was put int then I'd suspect the clutch needs adjustment.
