clutch noise... Hydrolic sounding?

Hey, I have a 95 gt vert. 5spd. with the clutch pedal all the way out it squeeks. I assume that it is the t/o bearing(when i put any pressure on the pedal it goes away. The bigger question is when I push the clutch pedal in, it made an almost hydrolic noise that veries nepending on the rpms. Any ideas on what it could be?

sounds like your clutch adjustment is off, throw out bearing has continuous contact with clutch fingers while clutch is disengaged probably been like that for a while causing throw out bearing to wear and start squeaking what kind of cable adjustment do you have? factory or manual adjustment and if this is the case bearing will have to be removed, replaced and adjusted properly. when properly adjusted you should not have and vibrations in the clutch pedal when clutch pedal is fully disengaged and gear shift should shift smooth without any grinding....

As Bill said, the TOB is meant to be just touching the pressure plate diaphram fingers (zero slack in the cable, and then a hair of preload).

You are not the first to have a possibly noisy TOB. A bad bearing retainer can also cause issues.

get teh upr clutch adjustment kit--triple hook quadrant and extreme firewall adjuster!

I have had the squeaking alos on my black vert. The free way of fixing it woud be to get under the car take of that little service panel on the bell housing and tighten the nuts down ther to get rid of the slack in the cable. $hit....are the stock cables like that or am I thinking of adjustable ones...not sure now. Also you could try pulling up on the clutch pedal, I believe that supposed to re adjust the stock quadrant and remove any slack in the cable. Check your owners manual under adjusting clutch it gives some directions in there.

Stock cables are non-adjustable.



It sounds like the bearing retainer is eaten up a bit.

Get a firewall adjuster and a new quadrant. Everyone seems to like FIORE quadrants and firewall adjusters (sold by Pro3i here on stangnet). Dont get an adjustable cable...our stock ones are best. Plus, you dont need it with the firewall adjuster.

ahhhhhh I had the same problem. My bearing retainer was chewed up, after a new one, no problems.

i strongly recommend upr. i had the steeda fwa--not that great compared to upr's extreme fwa. also, a triple-hook quadrant gives you the most adjustment. keep the stock cable, i'd say, too.
