2002 Mustang GT
97,000 miles just notices yesterday when I press my clutch in (but not when I release) it makes this noise.
The stretching-type noise is just my leg on the seat that's nothing, just the clutch noise is the problem

That sounds like someone being murdered.

What's the deal with your car? How many miles, bolt ons, and any recent work to the clutch?

Sounds like something really needs oiled.

As posted previously 97,000 miles, had oil changed about a week ago then went out of town for 5 days so it just sat in my garage.

Other guys will chime in, but that sounds like a TOB going bad to me. These cars have a bad reputation for bad TOB.

Personally, I've driven with a few making similar horrible noises for several thousand miles without problems. Literally 20k on a bad TOB without problems.

Edit: Forgot the car wasn't running. I don't ever remember hearing a TOB making noise when the car is off.

My car does that too i realized its something to do with the clutch fork, maybe a throwoutpr pilot bearing needs some oil

Throw-out bearing.

This is the bearing that rides between your clutch fork and the clutch diaphragm. They normally make noise when there is no pressure on them (clutch pedal out). They will also make noise when they are moving back and forth.

Replacement means you have to drop the trans, which is why many people deal with the noise until they need a clutch replacement.

Do you know when the clutch if at all was changed? My 02 has close to 90K on the odometer and its getting a new clutch on tuesday. The TOB and clutch are starting to go bad so I am going to bite the bullet now instead of having to pay 100 or more for the tow to the shop and then the cost to replace the clutch and whatnot. BTW if you have longtubes get ready to pay alot for a clutch, my labor for the job is 700.

The TOB itself may not be bad. It sounds like the input shaft bearing retainer sleeve -- the sleeve over which the TOB rides which can be seen in this image:

-- is dry and possibly galled.

Another possibility is that the clutch cable is dry internally and needs replacement. I'd start by replacing the cable since it's external and relatively easy and cheap. If the noise persists, I think you'll be dropping the trans. Once you're that far into it you might as well resurface the flywheel, replace the clutch, the TOB, the pilot bearing and give the input shaft retainer and release arm (and pivot fulcrum) and careful inspection.
