Clutch noisy but NOT slipping

After my car sits overnight, when I start my car the next morning my clutch makes some awful noises. Metal clanking, whirring, and buzzing sounds. Incredibly loud too. However, after a few minutes of driving it's quiet again. It doesn't slip and still bites hard.

I wasn't sure how worried I should be about the clutch since I had never heard such weird sounds. I had Ford listen to it today as I got an oil change and they recommended a new clutch. The thing is, it's not slipping, it's just noisy after sitting overnight.

Should I worry about the sound it makes?

Oh, Ford told me it would be an $1100 job, including a new flywheel. I'm going to search for Maryland performance shops but hopefully I can just keep driving on the noisy thing...

Oh, I have 56666 miles on the car. I learned to drive stick on it. I drive it pretty hard but no slipping as far as I can tell.

Is it a terrible metal on metal squealing that occurs only when the clutch is pressed in? If so I'd put my money on the throw out bearing. I had mine go on me and it sounded awful. The tech took my tranny out and found my throw out bearing was crumbled to pieces. Otherwise, if that's not the kind of noise you're getting, I've got no clue

Originally I figured that was the problem. Except that it makes the noise at idle and when I drive.

The tech I spoke to said "All I know is that it's the clutch, I can't find out any more info unless I take out the clutch and you might as well replace it then."

Just got off work and picked up my car. On the paperwork the tech wrote that they believe it's the pressure plate coming loose... That can't be good.

When you hear this noise does the clutch peddle vibrate also? If so you may want to adjust the adjuster by the clutch quadrant underneath your dash. Clutch cable might be stretched and need to be replaced as well.

I'm kinda having a simular problem. Mine kinda sounds like a diesel engine running until i push in the clutch pedal. Then the noise stops all together. Had a couple people tell me it's probably my throwout bearing, but i'm not to sure. I'm wondering if something is loose that is tightening up when the clutch is pushed in.

My vote is throwout bearing. Mine does the same thing.

Nope, pedal feels the same as it always has.

My problem isn't like that, it doesn't matter if I'm idling in neutral, driving, or have the clutch in. Yours sounds like the TOB though...

I hope you get your problem fixed, at a better price. I was quoted about 350 to replace a clutch, but I had already purchased a new clutch and a new throw out bearing.

my clutch does the same thing. when im in nuetral it squeeks and shakes like a black girl at a we-tang concert.

Definately not getting it done at Ford. $1100 is ridiculous.

Mine does it when I'm driving too. But ONLY after it sits overnight for like 10 hours. And it stops after I drive for 5 minutes.
