Clutch Or Clutch Cable

On my 92 GT ItJust recently has been hard to get my car into gear. I can still drive it just fine but it noticeably takes more effort to shift. I pulled up on my clutch and it clicked. It made it easier to drive. Like new again. Is my cable too tight? I can pull up on it and make it click everytime after I use it. It has always been very stiff and hard to press down.

The cable snapped about three months ago and I put a new one in. Is there a way I can adjust it? Or do I need a new one? The mechanic did it and they told me to come back after a hundred miles to adjust it but I never did because they were shady. Plus I can see it pretty easily so I was thinking I could adjust without much work.
