Clutch pedal vibrating

All of a sudden my clutch pedal vibrates (I know a little vibration is normal) but it's pretty loud. There's about an inch or so worth of play when pressing it down before the clutch starts to disengage (which should be normal). So that inch or so worth of play is where it seems to shake too much (the engine idles smoothly to). The pedal used to be stiffer, now it seems loose. Any ideas?

The car still shifts and drives fine, the pedal just shakes too much when it's in its fully up position.

There are many reasons why this could be shaking. My first guess would be the TOB because I have had a few mustangs do that right when the TOB was about to go out. I know the feeling and I hate it. I just got done installing my new SPEC and i only have the feeling right when I'm pushing down on the clutch but hopefuly it will work its way out. Very likely it is your TOB if you haven't replaced it or even if you have replaced :) Thanks to ford

:stupid: Mine did that too. My neighbor, who is one of those certified mechanic-type guys, told me that's what it was. Along with my clutch pedal rattling, you could also hear my throw-out bearing squeaking sometimes too.

My throwout bearing was squeaking before, seems to have gotten better. Assuming if the vibration is from the TB (which it sounds like it is) is this a sure sign that its about to go, or can it still last a while?

From everything I've heard, even when it starts squeaking, it still has quite a bit of life left.

In most cases I have seen the vibration will go on for a good long while before it starts to squeak. When it starts to squeak it all goes downhill from there. I've only had them last a few miles after squeaking.

After recent clutch replacement, my pedal vivrate pretty badly. almost sounded like nocking. turned out that my TOB i used(one came with Spec clutch) was toast after 13 miles of drive. I reinstall new Ford TOB, and noise, viveration, and kocking sound all gone
