hey guys. my stang and mods are in my sig - 02 blown GT. 41,6xx miles blown since 10k. starting yesterday afternoon, i feel like the clutch cable has stretched. if the clutch is not pressed, i have about an inch or so of free play where there is NO resistance. when i do not press the clutch down, if i rest my foot next to it, i can feel it vibrating. almost like its moving in and out a TINY bit, very fast. as soon as i put ANY amount of pressure on it, the vibrating stops. a friend at work said it may be my TOB on its way out. but i always thought that a TOB woudl only come into play when the clutch is depressed.

i also dont think its disengaging properly/fully. i have never had a problem getting it into gear, but when i pulled onto the highway, i got on it in 1st, tried to shift into 2nd (not a normal shift, quickshifting) and it felt like i hit the stop, so i let the clutch out and it was in neutral! later that day, the samething happened in 3rd gear.

i tried adjusting it. engine off in 1st gear, pull up till it clicks, then push it down. didnt help at all.

could i have somehow stretched the cable? is there another adjustment i can make?? or is this an actual CLUTCH issue where i will have to replace the clutch?

if its all stock you SHOULD be able to just grab the pedal and pull up on it.... if not then yes the firewall adjuster and new quadrent is what you want. dont get an adjustable cable... i have one and am currently waiting on my new cable (stock OEM) and firewall adjuster to come in. sick of adjusting from under the car and the adjustable cables done last for crap... went 80k on the stock cable, and had 2 adjustables since then now at 140k.

aye, it happens, did to me just before mine broke. and as far as quadrent, i used the steeda double hook (the blue one) and have the steeda FW adjuster on order. apparently its the longest, so it would allow for the cable to be used longer under stretch untill it brakes.

and it just happens... its like pulling on a rope every day, after a long time of doing it with a lot of weight it will become tighter in the weaving, and as it becomes tighter it becomes longer as the weaving is no longer pushing out but being drawn down. however, once it gets to its limit of getting tight it will eventually start to stretch the metal threads (metal stretches ya know) and find place its rubbing and eventually snap a few... then it brakes
