Well the time has finally come. I knew my stock clutch wouldn't hold up with my new combo, especially considering the way I drive. I need a clutch that will grip good, but still be relatively streetable. So far I am leaning towards the King Cobra, but there are just so many out there that I can't make up my mind. Any recommendations???

I have driven with the FRPP King Cobra for a year now, and it has held up really good. A big rough for street driving, as far as taking off you have to want to go, or it will just bog.

I have put 8 passes on it shifting at 5000 RPM, it works for me, but I have a stock 5.0...

I put a dual friction in my wife's '90 5.0 LX 5-speed, figuring that since the cost of labor was so much and it was a job that would last years, why skimp? I also heard that it had lighter pedal pressure with superior clamping pressure. How could you go wrong with that, especially since I planned to upgrade? That was 9 years and 90,000 miles ago. It is also now 80,000 miles since I dropped in an iron head GT40 motor with an E303 cam. The only hiccup was the Ford throwout bearing going 10,000 miles ago. But the guy who pulled it saw nothing wrong with the disc, and I paid $300 to replace a $30 part only. On a cost-benefit analysis, I can't see how you could complain, despite the high initial price. The dual friction does have slightly lower pedal pressure, although not enough to make any big deal over. But the clutch has performed flawlessly in daily (as well as "spirited") street driving. Since the clutch is still working great with 90k miles, I have no comparison, but will put in another dual friction if I ever have to. And yes, my wife does smokey burnouts with ease. Now If I can only get her to do it in a bikini.

I voted Spec II, but the KC and Centerforce D/F are also other good choices. It's like pro-50 vs Tri-ax, either way you really can't loose except I think the Spec II would be better for the track while the other two would be better for street cruising.

i have a spec stage 2 (see my garage for mods) its not bad on the street, its kinda like the car doesn't like to take off slow lol, but once you get the hang of it, it is really nice. as for the performance it feels really nice and solid and really grips. i'm happy with it

I loved the King Cobra and I love the CF Stage II even more on my h/c/i (it grabs harder - chirps third where the King Cobra didn't)...

Ive been through three KC's and I think the next time Im going to try a dual friction. I've read good things about them and hoping the pedal effort will be better.

The King Cobra has one of the lightest (if not THE lightest) pedal pressure of any aftermarket performance Clutch. The Dual Friction will be fairly light, but not like the KC

Actually the CF DF and CF Stage II have a lighter pedal than the King Cobra...I've tried all three of them.

I must say i've been very happy with my AFM Super King Cobra. Pedal effort isn't much more than stock, engagement is smooth, but still grabs hard when shifting fast. Gets a lot of 4th gear rubber at the track. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

What is the difference between the "super" king cobra and the regular king cobra? Where can I buy a "super" king cobra?

Interesting....I can't imagine what the normal "Heavy Duty" FMS must feel like.

Right now I have the stock clutch and the pedal pressure is relatively heavy. Sometimes when sitting at lights I put in nuetral to give my foot a break from holding in the clutch! I want a clutch with lighter pressure. I have narrowed it down to either the KC of the CF D/F. My friend has the CF D/F and I really like it.

I'm not sure what all of the differences are, but it's supposed to take %30 more horsepower than a standard king cobra. Go to www.andersonfordmotorsport.com for more info. They are $209.00.
