does the clutch make a noise when it is slipping or going bad? my car bogs alot and there is a noise when i am trying to accelerate hard ... it is hard to say where it is coming from ... somewhere in the engine compartment though. i'm trying to figure out if the clutch is going or what the problem is.

plus, the clutch pedal is very hard to press in.

im not sure about the noise you are explaining, but a good way to find out if ur clutch is slipping is to cruise on the freeway at around 2000rpms and mash on the gas, if your rpms go up and not ur speed ur clutch is slipping.

That noise that you hear when you accelerate, what exactly does it sound like?

Do you know what pinging sounds like? It sounds like a tin can full of rocks being shaken, or something like that. My guess is you are prematurely detonating (pinging).

If the clutch pedal is really hard to press in, your pressure plate is likely bad.

Sounds like the 2 exact problems I had with my car when I got it. Damn people were to cheap to replace the clutch.

yes i know what that sounds like. i heard alot of it after i installed a new maf in the 96. this doesn't really sound like that did, but this is a different engine and maybe that is the way this engine sounds when it is pinging.

what would cause it? maybe the maf needs to be cleaned?
