Clutch Smell...

For the last few days I have been noticing a strong clutch burning smell when I get out of my car... under normal driving conditions. Everyone has been telling me to take it to the dealer, but I just had 4.10's installed two weeks ago and the speedcal is sitting in my room. Do you guys think they will blame the gears on my clutch problem? Or can I take my car in, as is.
It's a '02 GT with 28k miles on it...

If anything, I'd think installing shorter gears should extend the life of your clutch a little. Less scrubbing required to get the car rolling from a stop.

No matter. Some dealerships and Ford in general will sometimes place the blame on your mods just to escape liability. Be prepared for that.

i would take it in and NOT SAY ANYTHING about the gears... I seriuosly doubt that they would tear apart your rear end just to get out of a 500 dollar job

Doubt the guy would noticed you have 4.10's too when they "test" drive it

Thanks for the input guys... guess I'll take it to the dealer then. It's weird too, because since I've had the gears installed, I haven't been able to drive as smooth as I use to. I think I've been leaving my foot on the clutch to long while shifting, to avoid jerking my passengers heads around. And I'm talking about normal driving... not racing or anything.

LOL!

Why spare your passengers the feeling of muscle? They are the ones who wanted to ride in your car.

Heh... I've had some backseat passengers complain that I banged the back of their heads on the rear window.

I say they should ride with someone who has a Honda if they don't ever want that to happen.

just go ahead an put in a Spec Stage 2........so you wont have to worrie about upgradeing later, and it will last longer.....
