My friend has a 1993 Ford Mustang LX 2.3L MTX. He was driving around and all of a sudden, he heard a pop and the clutch had no pressure. I looked on this forum and from what I could gather, a clutch kit would fix the issue. We replaced the throw out bearing, pressure plate, clutch, and also got both cables. Im just wondering if there should be pressure from that plate that sticks out of the transmission that holds the throw out bearing?

Are you saying you already replaced both cables? Generally when you hear a pop, it's one of the cables breaking. If you already replaced them and everything else you listed, check the clutch fork (which is what the throwout bearing attaches to) and make sure it's still OK.

Well, the throw out bearing doesn't seem to be touching the pressure plate at all. How should the clutch fork look? From what I remember, it was a relatively straight piece of metal.

Is there a return spring or not?

Are you saying the throwout bearing doesn't touch the pressure plate with the cables attached or before you attach the cables? It's not an issue unless the bearing doesn't make contact when the cables are attached.

Would it really matter if the cables are off or on? The clutch fork will move to the same position. I just want to know if there should be some type of resistance or if the diaphragm spring is kind of light.
