Im considering the stage 2 heads from CMS/MHS and was looking for any advice about them. Specs are in the link.

MHS/CMS 2V Head/ Cam Package - Stage 2 [MHS/CMS2VS2] - $2,275.25 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

Basically, Im looking for any imput regarding what kind of gains I would be looking at with these heads with:

a.) stock cams
b.) stage 2 or 2.5 CMS/MHS cams

Current mods are CAI, Accufab plenum, Accufab 75mm TB, stock exhaust manifolds (for now), off-road midpipe, catback, 4.10's.

Thanks.

Ported heads with stock cams won't get you much in the way of gains. You'd be better off selecting a good cam made for a non-ported, factory head in that respect.

I also second the TrickFlow heads. They're around $2k and are far superior to any other head available for the 2v 4.6 right out of the box. If need be, save for cams and do the install all at once.

I would LOVE some TF heads, however they're too far out of my price range. The TF's run about $1000 per head and are essentially bare heads. CMS/MHS is offering a fully built head AND cam package with my choice of cam professionally built (w/ rockers, upgraded valves, fully degreed, etc). You simply unbolt your stock heads (with cam) and bolt on the new heads and cams. I would save a BUNDLE in labor (cheapest quote for installing just cams alone was $750).

I could have stage 2 ported heads with upgraded valves and spings, degreed stage 2.5 cams on the car for around $2500 including any labor. I'd be looking at roughly $3K for a pair of TF heads installed with STOCK cams. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Yeah, in that case it is a no-brainer.

I definitely wouldn't put a stock set of cams back in the car. As far as going stage 2, or 2.5, what are your future plans for the car? I'd personally go 2.5 if they provided safe piston to valve clearance, but that's just me and I'd rather have the top end pull.
