Just wondering if anyone on here may have a pic of the old Cobra II , I just saw 2 of them in the junk yard, I used to see one of them running around town all the time, I don't want one or anything I was just wondering if anyone had a pic of one in good condition? As I have not seen one??? Did they only come in Black and Gold or what? Never mind I just found some more of them, the only 2 I ever seen here were black and gold so I assumed the only color they came in was black and gold. Here is the one I am talking about. What ever happened to these, does anyone have one???? View attachment 333015 Hopefully I won't sound stupid but what year are these????? Did they only come in a V8? The 2 at the junk yard still have the original V8's in them.

First of let it be clear that I am NOT a Mustang II Melvin. I only know this stuff because my power went off for a couple of hours and I picked up one of my Mustang books to learn about the only Mustangs that I don't know almost everything about, the Mustang II.

Mustang II was produced from 1974-1978. In 1974 the Mustang II was only available in a 2.3L 4 cyl or a 2.8L 6 cyl. No V8's for 1974. They also had a Mach I model for 74 but only with the 2.8L.
They started putting 302's in them in 1975, but they only had 139 h.p.
The Cobra II you speak of was produced from 1976-1978, and was available with any engine, the 2.3L 4cyl, the 2.8L 6cyl., and the 5.0.
The Cobra II package was really just a graphics package.

Keep in mind that the reason these cars were low on power, is because they were born of the oil crisis of the early 70's. The government was cracking down on CAFE standards and emissions. But if you do some research, you'll find that these were really nice, comfortable cars with a lot of luxury for such a small car, which was unusual then.

Go on google or ebay and type in "mustang 2 cobra" or "cobra 2" you should find plenty of pics.

I personally love the look of them, I saw a 1978 v8 cobra 2 fully restored on ebay a month or so ago going for 7k.

A beat up cobra can be around 2-5k and a good one 6k+

The yellow Mustang II is my friend at work. He found it up north while giving his aunt a ride home. It took him 1 month to get ahold of the guy. He towed it back because the original 302 was bad. Something around the dizzy was broke. We found an original 302 with 274 miles on it in Pennsylvania. He bought it for 350 shipped!!!! It came in like brand spankin new! Dropped it in, got it running, then the body and paint work began. I don't have befores, but the body was rock solid, because it sat since the late 80's. We just took the moldings off, welded the holes behind them, and fixed tons of dents and painted it 2004 GM yellow. Car was originall yellow, just not that bright. He loves the car, the interior is perfect as well!!

Always wanted a Pinto

:hide:

HAHA...MY friend hates that!! He was at the light next to this Camaro. The guy was like hey nice Pinto!! He was dead serious. He told him it's a Mustang...and they pulled over so the guy could check it out. He then apologized! :D

Of course, he didn't race him because as stated 139HP doesn't go too fast! IT will spin the tires like a mother *****er though!!!
