I might have the chance to buy a Cobra motor complete with harness and tranny. My question is the Cobra block the same as the GT except top end hardware? And how hard do you think this swap would be if I get all the pieces.

the cobra blocks are aluminum 6 bolt main. gt's are iron 4 bolt main. the new (03+) cobras have an iron block, dont know how many bolts in the main webs. i dont think the swap would be that difficult if you have everything, you might just need some fab work here and there. other people here might know more about it.

There are a few guys around here who have swapped 4v's into their GT's. It will bolt right in...its an easy swap. Do you mean a Cobra block complete with pistons, rods, crank etc...? The Cobra crank is stronger than the GT's, I believe it can handle anywhere up to around 700hp if I remember correctly...I'm not talking about pistons and rods holding up to that amount of hp....but the crank should get the job done.
