Its time for my 98 GT to get a brake job. So I figure this time around why not upgrade the fronts to cobra Calipers and rotors. For those who have done this, what do you do with the rear? what rotors do you use? and do you do anything with the calipers?

Thanks for the input

I've got a 98GT too and just did the same upgrade to mine in November. I left the rears stock for now since rear brakes do so little of the braking I figured it was no big deal. But when I do upgrade I will just get new parts from Disc Brakes are Us again, because they are very easy to work with.

Oh yeah get a speed bleeder kit it will make the job super easy.

I plan on upgrading the fronts to 13's this year also. I was just gonna leave the rears alone and just paint the calipers to match the fronts......

Ya, I really only care because I want the Calipers and the discs to match. Thats all. so maybe I should just paint them then.

Unless you wanna throw down about $350 more for some matching rear rotors....I would paint them.

I upgraded both front and rear to Bullitt GT kit. Same as cobra except for the red paint. Upgrading front is very easy. Rear is more complicated but still reasonable. To upgrade rear brakes you need to replace caliper bracket and to do so you have to remove diffirential cover drain the fluids and remove half-axles. Still front is is much better bang for a buck.
I had this kit for almost two years now. I encountered a poblem, when I replaced OEM pads with AutoZone ones. Pad clips on aftermaket replacement pads do not have rubber bushings resulting in annoying brake rattle.

I got the Buttitt Calipers with the 13" rotors about 2 years ago and I am very pleased with the results. (I am due for new pads soon)

One Note: Just so you don't get an unpleasant suprise. Your compact spare will not work on the front anymore. So you can either get the spare from a Cobra or (Like I am doing) plan that if you get a flat in the front you put the donut on the back and switch the back tire to the front.

Where'd you get your Bullitt kit from?

I just did the upgrade in the front, and I put Hawk pads and vented rotors on the rear. It works fine for me since the rears only do about 25% of the stopping why waste your money.
