cobra engines

Im dropping a cobra engine into my GT this summer, and i was looking at 99 cobra engines and 03 cobra engines... there isnt much a difference in price and the 03 cobra engine has no supercharger, is there that much of a difference in the base engine to buy the 03?

Where are you finding this? The 03 is all forged, the 99-01s are not...may have a forged crank.

What planet are you from that there is no difference...plus 03-04s came with an eaton roots type s/c. Maybe the particular one your looking at was stripped of it's eaton. Also the 03 engines are forged. And can hold insane horse.

Yea the heads are actually the same as the 03-04 mach 1s, the difference is in the cams...03 cobras have blower friendly profiles. 01 heads flow about 30CFM less than the 03 DOHC. If going N/A then the 01 is your motor due to a high compression (around 10.1-1 I think) if going with FI the 03 is your choise HANDS DOWN. Good info BTW^

2003 cobra block is iron, not aluminum. There is a big weight difference between the two.

Comparing the engines I could see the prices being Close due to the Aluminum Block on the 99 01 = big money. And Forged internals on the 03 = Big money.

nope, the money shouldn't even be close. unless of course someone is trying to rip him off on a 99 engine, or someone doesn't realize what they have in the 03/04.

similar yes, identical no. i saw the factory specs on both & they are different. i'll find the article tomorrow morning
