Hey guys, I know this question has been asked a thousand times... but I couldnt find anything on the search so Im hoping you can help me out. I am curious what all is involved with switching from the 94-95 upper and lower manifolds to the 93 cobra manifold? Is the swap worth it? My CAI wont fit anymore will it? I want to do some heads and a cam later on, is this a good intake to go with? Thanks guys!!

its pretty pointless to go from the 94-95 cobra to the 93 cobra intake. really wont see any gain out of it plus it will cost you money you dont need to spend (new gaskets, elbow). take that $100 and 3-4 hours of your life and put it towards your your gear install

i think hes goin form a stock intake. its pretty much the same as any intake swap. with the 93 cobra intake tho you also have the option of switching to a fox TB setup or buying an elbow (trick flow & edelbrock make them) and using your current TB and CAI

ah ok, i read over that sentence quickly. the 93 cobra intake flows a little better than the 94-95 cobra intake. if you are up for doing the fox body tb swap too, you can do it all at once and probably find a decent deal on a 93 cobra intake with a tb. actually...i might have one locally that i think someone is selling

I run the 93 Cobra set-up....Why ???

Any intake upgrade over the stock lower is gonna be noticable...mid and upper power improves alot..

I personally like the 93 look...thats the main reason I did it...I swapped over to the Fox set-up to clean things up and I didnt like running an elbow.....Throttle response seems crisper with the Fox..

I run no EGR/smog, no problems there..

I like doing tweaking stuff, so I did up my own CAI...

The intake swap is tit...figuring out thats got to be tweaked is prolly the hardest part....You can run a 1/2 spacer and swap to different VCs if you like...Vac lines have to be re-run as the 93 has different ports...

If you need any help, give a shout....

And you do nice work. But isn't the CAI in the above pick a cast piece? Is that the one you made?

Considering the GT40 intake manifold? I think it's a nice piece!

How hard was it to do the fox swap, and run new vac lines? I want to get the polished 93 CObra intake on my GT

Thanks for the props guys...

Tom...yes thats a CL inlet....it was the quickest, best looking solution at the moment...I just made the rest...it'll be all one pc by Spring....
The 93 Cobra is different than an Explorer by 2" in lenght cause it runs no EGR spacer..Thats makes the sweep out of the TB almost a 90 deg turn..

The GT40 upper is the next one I want to try.....been keeping my eyes out in the classifieds for an upper...

The swap isnt that bad at all...a few items needed to be tweaked...nothing hardcore at all....basic stuff....
The vac lines are the same...re-route and had to Tee a few....no biggie..

You can run 3.5" VCs with this or an Explorer and have clearance for the TB and even the stock hood clears with the blanket still on...

If you rounded up all the stuff beforehand you can swap it over in a day no sweat...the CAI is the biggest thing to figure out depending on your MAF set-up...

Okay, I'm picking up a 93 Cobra upper and lower intake already port and polished tomorrow. What all will I need to install it? I know new coolant as I will have to flush the system beforehand. I know gaskets, but will the 95 Cobra gaskets work? Cus I accidentally ordered the 95 ones. Is it a PITA to go from stock 94 GT intake to a 93 Cobra intake? What vacuum pieces if any should I pick up before doing the swap? Lemme know EVERYTHING I need to cus I don't wanna get halfway through and be screwed cus I forgot something. Thanks
