Well i was thinking about taking my christmas money and saving a little more for a polished cobra intake. I was wondering what kind of gains i should expect to see on a motor/car with the mods in my sig? It's basically a stock motor except the E cam and exhuast. I searched but didn't really find the answer i was looking for so any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am also planning on either getting some thumper heads or (if money permits) gt40x heads in about a year. Does this sound like a decent budget build?

i've been considering the same manifold down the road ( except un polished) the general hp increase i think is 10 to 15 horse power from a manifold change, could be more but don't bet on it.
one thing about it though, even if it doesn't give alot of extra horsepower it should add a little to the rev range so it doesn't fall flat so fast. the 10 or 15 horse estimate would be with your stock heads.....
also, you probably don't need 24lb injectors on it right now, they may actually be costing you some power by running a little too rich.......just a thought if it mat be a year or so before you do the heads.....

I agree on the about 10 to 15 HP range with stock heads.

I was in the same boat as you, and i hunted around and got a great deal for the cobra intake manifold, i got it for $290 shipped, the gaksets and new t-stat came out to about $45, and then some allthread and all new metal hose clamps, the stock ****ty ones suck. It took some working to get her on, but i could feel a little-medium horsepower difference, but the main thing is above 3k rpms, my car screams. I felt a huge difference in the upper rpm range after i put my cobra intake manifold on. Hope this helps.

should open up the car a bit, should flow good with the cam. There will be a power increase, but the stock heads wont be able to flow to the potential of that intake. they will hold it back a bit.

So once you get heads, there will be a nice gain then....

Cool thats what i wanted to hear! Yeah my car seems to fall flat on its face at 5200 rpm so maybe this would help it pull a little farther.

As for the 24# injectors, they where on the car when i got it and i haven't really found a good deal on some 19#'s, plus i'd have to change the maf and the computer right. Just sounds like extra money for a minimal gain and would put me farther away from getting heads. I don't know, if i could find a really good deal for everything i would probably do it becuase it does run rich and i know that hurts my performance not to mention my rings are probably suffering also.

I noticed that i got a little power increae over 2500RPM.

The car seemed to pull harder in the higher RPM. It still falls on it's face around 5000-5200 however, but i think that has to do more with the heads than the intake

Well, you'd have to get the 19 lb injectors and a MAF that's calibrated for them, not a new computer. You could possibly post up in the classifieds and find someone who's looking to upgrade to 24's and swap parts w/ them - just make sure their stuff is calibrated for the 19's and all. Maybe find someone w/ a C & L or ProM MAF calibrated for the 19's instead of a stock piece, though. It's your choice.

Well i just talked to one of my friends and he is building a nice little setup so he said that next saturday he would trade me my 24# for his 19# setup. So hopefully that will help me out also.

You'll gain power from the injector swap and about 15 wheel horsepower from the intake. It flows a good bit more than the stock heads giving you room to grow, plus I'd feel better knowing my intake flowed more than my heads than to know that my intake couldn't flow enough to them.

I'll keep yall updated as to how the injector swap goes and the intake swap. Thanks for the replies!
