I just bought a cobra intake and I noticed that the pcv hose fitting is under the upper and points straight down! I have Anderson ford motor sport VC’s and with the stock intake (fitting at an angle) there is not much clearance. There is a couple of questions that if answered could really help, before I take this apart and find that it does not fit!!

1. How much taller is the cobra intake compared to the stock one? (Basically if the stock one cleared, is the height difference relative to make the cobra fit where a stock one would fit?)
2. Will a cobra intake with a 3/8 spacer clear a stock hood?
3. Has anybody done the cobra swap with any VC’s other than stock or fox?

Thank you, all experiences and actual working cobra swap setups would be appreciated.

yes the cobra intake and 3/8 spacer will clear stock hood

you can also try swaping your PCV fitting from your stock intake over to the cobra

I've never had a cobra intake on this vehicle, but my gt-40 w/a spacer would not fit.

1. Cobra is taller (enough not to clear the stock strut tower brace)
2. Yes
3. No experience in that area

1. Yes, the Cobra is a little taller than the stock intake.
2. Yep, I have that setup on mine.
3. I have taller valve covers to clear my 1.7 rollers, so a 3/8" spacer was neccessary, the intake would NOT fit with these aftermarket VC's.

All my vacuum barbs are pointing straight out from the intake, not down. You might try replacing the barbs from the Cobra with the ones from the stock intake.

CMANT1914: Let me just clearify, you have a sn95 cobra intake with 3/8 spacer. This does not hit the stock hood and with taller than stock or fox VC's, the pcv fitting on the drivers side back part of the upper intake clears the driver side VC?
The pcv fitting I am talking about pointing straight down is the screw in one on the drivers side directly above the VC. Yours doen't point straight down? Thanks

Ray...your speaking of the nipple on the corner....I take it the Cobra isn't threaded but just a tube???

No, it is a threaded fitting with a nipple (same one in RIO's pic) but it screws in directly under the intake (no angle outward), so when it is screwed in it points straight down and kills all clearance the lenght of the fitting.

Best bet sounds like a fitting used for either air/hydrl lines....you know they're barbed on the ends for connecting lines...

Nope, does not hit the stock hood, although I do have the hood blanket removed. But I think there's a few other guys on here that still have the blankets on and it still fits. My VC's are 3 11/16" tall. That PCV fitting comes straight out though, not down. I think you're gonna need a new fitting. I can definitely see how it would not fit pointing down like you're saying. Try swapping the one from the GT intake to the Cobra.

CMANT1914: That is perfect information, thank you. Now I have to measure my VC's. I think I worded my fitting description wrong. The fitting is L shaped, so yes the hose does connect from the side but the fitting screws srtaight up and down into the bottom of the intake. Same exact fitting in RIO's pic in this thread. (just move the fitting an inch to your right, looking at the pic, so it would be coming straight at you or straight down when istalled)

Does that make more sence now, if you compare it to yours? Thanks again

R.J., is the fitting threaded in near the circle in the pic below?

Maybe a little more to the left, but yeah about there.
I think I'm in good shape, I measured my VC's and they are 3 and 9/16 tall. So I'm ordering a 3/8 spacer. Thanks

There's more than enuf threads on those nipples....Take 5/8 or so off it....Mines cut like that to clear the top of the VC...

i ground off a bunch of extra material from that little connector to see if i could get it to work without a spacer (using fox VCs) but couldnt get it to fit so got a spacer and everything fits great. youll need to modify your EGR tube tho if your going to use a spacer

I picked up a chromed 3/8" fuel line 90* fitting from AutoZone in their chrome/hot rod section. It screws right in and is only about half the height as the stock fitting.

I've also ground about an 1/8" off the bottom of the EGR mount on the passenger side. It's not needed and just extra casting hanging down in that area.

My cobra intake has cleared TFS and Comp Cams Polymer valve covers without using a spacer with the above mods.

The 3/8 spacer worked perfect. Great clearance over the VC's and doesn't even touch the hood (with lining in). I had a custom EGR tube made out of stainless, the whole job came out really clean. I'll try to post some pics this week end. Now I am just trying to figure out where I am supposed to be feeling the power increase with this cobra intake? there is ice on the ground so maybe I just can tell yet!
