A friend of mine wants to see me his 99 Cobra, and I wanted some opinions on whether it's worth the money, or if I should just focus my money elsewhere (like on my Mach). It's a 99 Rio Red Cobra Coupe, 51k miles, and he wants $10,900. KBB on it for retail is 12k, so i figure it's not a bad deal, and i could always steal some parts off of it that i want (i.e. IRS, Front bumper cover, exhaust) and trade them with my mach, and sell it on as a GT. Thoughts??

I could understand if it was an '03-'04 Cobra, but a '99, in my opinion, forget it. I'd put the money in the Mach.

It is sad to dismantle a perfectly good cobra to sell it as a GT. Your mach is 4-5 years newer and has essentially the same motor. IRS, while nice, overall will not change your experience in 99% of daily driving. And especially if the parts on it are 5 years older I would rather change the parts you described for new parts (an 11 year old bumper, 11 year old suspension, etc.), no matter the miles 5 more years results in much more rust / degradation in the car.

Put the money in the mach and let the cobra go to someone who will love it and take good care of it.

Consider all of the extra maintenance you will have to do. That alone can add up considerably. I hope your not thinking of just the motor.

I see no advantage to switching from the Mach to a Cobra. The Mach is newer, and unless it's in poor shape (doubtfully), the only thing you'd have going is the IRS, and that can either be an advantage or disadvantage.

Mach 1 is a str8 up good 4v n/a motor. I personally think the 99/01 cobra's are the plainest looking of them all. A mach 1 have more character imo. IRS all the way for track but if your looking for a drag car solid rear is the way to go.
