To start off its a 1990 5.0 Gt.

Ok next is their any syptoms of a bad clockspring.. like i don't understand how it could just go from disconnecting the negative terminal. its weird. i'm really tight on money right now and i can barely afford anything so im wondering if theres any symptoms so i could try to troubleshoot before i go buy a new one,

I just took apart mine. The airbag cloockspring is an incased by the outer one that holds the horn, and cruise control. It is easy to clean if you get the wheel off, and have the torq. tools to pull the spring. Warning! Discount you battery, don't want to blow that sucker up, and to clean or look at the airbag portion, you'll need a special torq. tool: small like a T-5 with a hole drilled through the center. good luck.

Did you try reading this? http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/airBag/airBag90-91.html There's lots of stuff on here about Mustang airbag codes. I've been swearing that I'm gonna troubleshoot the code 10 I've been getting on my '90 LX, but haven't got to it yet. So I'm basically driving around with no airbag, like all the pre-90 cars. I've also considered swapping in a tilt column and doing away with the airbag column entirely, since I'd really rather have the tilt wheel anyway. Come on, admit it -- the angle on the airbag steering wheel sucks. My buddy couldn't make up his mind and swapped the columns back and forth a couple of times, so I figure it's not that big a deal.

You can probably find one off many cars in the bone yard... but I saw one on ebay too... $40 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MUST...ryZ33589QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Good luck with your search.
