Code scanner problem

I just bought a code scanner. After i press test, 10sec later it seems like it cuts off. As u see in the picture. The arrow does show up either. Whats the problem?

Are you getting any flashing lights on the dash?

Change the battery in the scanner and try it again. My guess is the fault lies in the code reader, and not the vehicle as there is no electrical signal from the car that would command it to shut off. The scanner is doing it on it's own.

I just put new batteries in them

Yup.

I have the same scanner. That’s not typical behavior. Return and get a new one

The scanner will turn off after 1min if sitting idle. If you turn it on, and let it sit, does it turn off after 10 sec or 1min?

You plug it into the car, turn key to on, and press test and what happens?

It sits there for a minute & just cuts off

Did you try the jumper method?
likely scanner is broke
