My idle is far too high and the only codes I pull are 411 and 412 which is idle too high or too low and can't be controlled... Anyone know what these codes point to or what I can do to fix the idle?
Remember to set the TPS after you manually adjust the idle speed screw on the bottom of the throttle body. Use the GReen and Black wires to take the measurement. In no case should it exceed .99 volts using a DVM to do the measurements..
The tps is not adjustable on the SN95 and there is no room too file anything to get it to move, anyway its at about .96/.97
The tps Ive ruled out, because I have two of them and both do the same thing. Do you know if those codes mean anything specifically or simply that something in the computer will not control the idle?
Did you do any modification recently? mas air meter? t body? chip? If not I would take it to you local dealer or tuner shop and have them check your computer. I also have a 94 did a couple mods and got this same thing, turned out the computer was going bad, got a new one chipped it and no problems since.
Im afraid it is the computer... I didn't mod anything to make it happen. I had a bad plunger so I replaced the IACV to fix that when this problem started. then went back to the old plunger and the idle problem was still there...
What kind of chip fixed it? Did you just replace the computer? I may do that if it turns out to be the computer.
I bought a remanufactured one from ford and had a module burned from powertrain dynamics. Comp cost me $85.00 chip and dyno time cost me 350.00. hope this helps.
I also pulled a code saying the ECT was out of range. I replaced the coolant temp sesnro for the engine but I don't think it helped at all. Does that say something about my connections? I tested for voltage from the computer to the harness on the sensor and it is fine...
Before you dump money into the computer, have it checked at ford or your local (reputable) tuner shop. No use spending money on something thats not needed.
I replaced the ECT sensor and I still get "low coolant" on the dash, and the code saying Engine Coolant Temp is out of range during test.
I can nearly guarentee this is my problem but I don't know where else to try. If I can't do it myself Ill take it to Ford and see what they can do for me.
Code 51 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor signal is/was too high - look for missing ground on the black wire. Measure resistance between pin 46 on the computer (use a safety pin to back probe the pin) and the black wire on the ECT sensor. You should see less than 1 ohm. Check for resistance between the black wire on the ECT & the black wire on EGR, MAP, and TPS. You should see less than 1 ohm.
