I purchaces some springs from a guy on here that he thought were 620's for 67-73 to put on my 68 coupe, apparently they weren't. They were way too low, even with the poly spacers. I ordered new 620's for 67-73 and put them on and they were great. When I compared the two they were the same height, but my new 620's were thicker, thus stiffer. Any one know what the other springs are? I am thinking regular springs for a 65-66...I would like to sell these once I figure out what they are for...

They may have been 520's. Those I believe are the same size as 620's but not as strong.

Maybe for the 6 cyl. car?

They very well could be 520's or for a 6 cyl...I really need to sell them though, I wish I could find out for sure...

yea I don't really know a way to tell what a spring is. I would say maybe put them up for sale with pics of what your car looked like with them installed and list the suspension setup as well just so you can be clear to them about what you're trying to do. If that makes sense.

take measurements and measure the spring rate. then match to a manufacturers spec.

to calculate spring rate measure the height with two different known weights.

if F=kx solve the equation.
F=known weight (like gym weight plates)
k=spring constant (520 or 620 the units are lbs/in)
x=the compressed length.

now the procedure for calculating the k. add weight to the spring so that it compresses just a little, like a 1/4". now add weight till you get another 1/2" of compression. Take the weight you added to get another 1/2" compression and plug it into the equation F=kx. if x = 1/2" and F=260 then you have 520 springs.

solving for k yeilds..... k=F/x solve that equation. good luck.
