What do you get with a cold air kit that I don't already have on my 2003GT? I'm not real mechanically inclined but looking under the hood it seems the air intake is routed to the fender for cold air already. I would then assume that adding a freer breathing filter is all you need. I am considering adding an Amsoil air filter rather than a K&N as I understand the Amsoil breathes as efficiently as K&N but does a better job of removing dirt particles from the air. Let me have your thought and opinions on this. Thanks

Cold air intakes are worthless, just put a better filter in like you said and be done with it.

Agreed - CAIs are worthless. The free breathing filter will help though.

I'm not doing a CAI because I'm getting supercharged, and all of that will change anyways

CAIs suck balls for the GT. Take of the headlight off at the track and you will see better results for free.

Cold air intakes are worthless on the 2v N/A stang.I even know a guy who dynoed about 2 horsepower LESS with a BBK Cai on his 01 GT.If you absolutely THINK you have to have one, then go with a plastic one like the western motorsports velocity tube or a densecharger.

Leave the CAI's be, get a open ended filter and a pipe to run to the throttle body. Here's mine:
