Cold Air Intake?

Pardon me for not getting it BUT you have headers, xpipe, chip, dyno#s and you dont know the principles of CAI. :bs:

Yes, I'm just an old lady with my first mustang ... I took it to Springfield Motorsports and told them I wanted more power and better sound ... that's what they suggested, so that's what I had done. This is a learning experience for me ... and I'm enjoying every minute of my car and learning what I can do with it! This forum has been very educational and I most certainly appreciate replies to my questions and all the other information I have gathered by reading other's posts. The best part is, no one seems to be offended by the "stupid" questions I ask and are more than willing to share their extensive knowledge. I originally wanted the Cobra, but cost was an issue when we bought the GT.

Thanks for all the help! Don't know if I'll do it, but just had to check since my son thinks he knows everything and I know that I know next to nothing! And, yes, my son does like Fast and Furious ... and he doesn't much care for the mustang! He wanted a stang before we bought this one, but says we ruined it for him by buying it for ourselves. Now that he sees "old" people driving it, he doesn't want one for himself. His loss!

Count your blessings. This means that in a few years your son will be the owner of an import car with a fart-can, giant wing and stickers. He will not have enough power to be a serious hazzard to most motorists and himself. After he's been driving for about 3 years, let him ride in the Mustang again.
:nice:

Just a little friendly picking on you, dont take me seriously. At least not today. I am just entertaining myself.

Okay ... you scared me there ... I was begining to think that maybe I shouldn't be asking questions .... but, that's the only way to learn!

I have the utmost respect for all of you knowledgeable people!

If that happens, I'll jump for joy ... he's already got his eye on Mitsubishi 3000GTs and he wants it supercharged!! He thinks that I won't look into how much horsepower a car has!! He will have to drive himself to school everyday since he is in an IT specialty program and the school is almost an hour away. I want him to have something like an Escort! Guess I'll have a fight on my hands in a year or so!

FACTS:

The engine bay air temperature is only 2-5 degrees warmer than the fenderwell temperature, once you go over 20 mph. That's worth what? A quarter of a HP?

I can't say much about the extra bend issue. I never checked that out myself.

The filter in the fender is a pain in the ass to check and clean compared to the engine bay mounted ones.

I agree with the changing the filter part. For me, it was totally for the bling, bling factor. I did notice an improvement in throtle response, not sure on any HP!

Ask all you want. But there are some that cant tell you how to get out of a wet paper bag much less car advice..

:nonono: well thats not very nice, im the first to admit that ive got a lot still to learn about these cars, but id like to think i know a little at least, besides the cai stuff is pretty basic, and i havent seen any bad info on this page although when u get into the more technical stuff u kinda gotta be on the look out for :bs:

I have a BBK fenderwell CAI that I bought off a guy I know for $40, so that was an easy choice. Though it was cheap, I'd be happy with it if I purchased it at retail.... has great sound if nothing else. Hell I'd pay for the sound it makes at full throttle at 3K and up...nothin wrong with fenderwell CAI's folks....

so you're all saying that I shouldn't spend the cash on a steeda hi-flow intake?

what should I buy instead? K&N Filter and some pullies?

Yep k&n and pullies instead..

spikeGT_99--its not the first time ive said something that wasnt nice..Ive been flamed from tbody tests to you name it..Ive turned wrenchs on mine for many years. So im use to it..

The fenderwell CAI will cause turbulance at the maf causing it to either run rich or lean. Just put a drop in K&N in the stock air box and a tube going from the maf to the TB and you will be set. I would spent the rest of the money on pullies and a timing adj. or something of that nature.
