Will a CAI by itself (no tuner) void my warranty? Please don't laugh if this is a stoopid question. Thx.

Nope. Not a stupid question. The service/warranty company would have to prove that the failure of a specific part was due to the intake. Therefore, the statistical probability of the happening would be minimal. However, you may have to pay for diagnostics of a CEL if your took the Stang in for an issue related to an improperly installed aftermarket product (and well you should - you play- you pay).

Check Engine Light
A.K.A
Malfunction Indicator Lamp(which MIL eliminators/tuners take care of after doing certain mods)

Depends on the dealership. Some may try to get out of fixing it for free some wont care either way. The simple act of using the CAI wont void your warranty but it could be used against you if something happend. CAI's should'nt take more that 1/2 hr to put on and take off. I would just remove it before bringing it in to avoid any problems.

I know that for my 4.6 the 95mm C&L works great with the SCT. Very nice horse power and torque gain. If you are going to get a SCT I would go with the C&L cai95mm mass air flow. I,m not trying to sound like a salesman but, Brenspeed can hook you up with a nice tune.

No comment on which is best - that calls for opinion. You can get the CAI alone; however, development of the tuning files that come with the CAI package will be created for use with the DiabloSport Tuner. If you go with the CAI by itself and get a tune from a separate tuning vendor just make sure you communicate this to the tuning tech.

Getting the CAI/tuner combo most likel will save you money over if ou buy them at seperate times. Two of the biggest names ight now are Brenspeed and Bamachips for such items. A huge advantage of buying them together from one of those guys is that they customize the tunes for the CAI and tuner to YOUR car. You just give them a few bits of info about your car and what mods you have(if any) and what you want order and a short time later you are hooked up for more power and driveability. I went with Brenspeed for my parts and have had 12K trouble free miles!
