Cold start noise

Ever since I had my oil changed last week I'm getting quite a bit of noise on startup. Sounds like valve tap. It goes away within 5 minutes. I'm not sure what brand/viscosity oil was used, I know it's not syntehic. I have 105k miles on my 2000GT, is this noise typical at this mileage and the fact that I had the oil changed just a coincidence?

Any advice is greatly appreciated,

Is the oil at the right level?

There are some shady oil change places out there.

But no, valves tapping or any tapping in the valvetrain shouldnt be noticable with only 100k on the engine.

you have a filter without a anti drain back valve

I would switch to a motorcraft filter, now and then top off.

I agree, the cheap filter you got has no drainback valve

You might want to go with a thicker oil sense you have 100k miles. I would go with 10w-30 synthetic. And get the motorcraft filter in there...
