Help me pick a color scheme for the car.

I have been around and around about picking a color scheme. I really want to stay with the Shelby 66 GT350 layout (lemans and side stripes), but what colors to use....

The original scheme before "that movie" was Mineral Gray with Black. But now I really do not know.

EDIT: before you shoot down the mineral gray, keep in mind that it is not the same as the Eleanor paint scheme.
Take a look here first. It is lighter and a slightly copper comparred to the pepper gray.

Here is a pic of the car in primer...

I put my vote in for gray with silver....it is different and I think it would look bad ass on that restomod of yours...by the way.. BEAUTIFUL CAR!! I'm drooling here. I personally think whoever voted for mineral gray with black should be shot....I would go with any of those combos but that. I think the gray with silver would look best personally. Just my opinion..

Nice car, go black and gold.
I love that color combination, and its what I am doing my coupe.
I made a really bad photo-chop for ya, but the chop came out horrible, so your on your own for envisioning it. But, whatever you do, it will probably look good.

I voted 'Candy apple red with white stripes'. Be different and standout! The fastback would look great w/ that combination. Don't go w/ that 'movie stang color' that everyone seems to be getting now. I recently saw a coupe w/ that combination on ebay.

If you REALLY want it to stand out (any fastback in that shape already does) I'd go Candy Apple Red w/ White Stripes.

Something more low-key yet still very attractive would be Wimbledon white w/ guardsman blue stripes.

With that said I voted for Red w/ White stripes. Simply Breathtaking!

White with blue stripes is the "classic" look. I would NOT use Wimbledon / Guardsman though! Wimbledon is very "creamy". There are so many more modern / brighter whites available, like "Performance White" used on the late models. I did the bright white, and it always make Wimbledon cars look dirty...

Same with Guardsman Blue..... Maybe go Viper Blue there...

I voted blue w/white stripes, but red w/white stripes was a close 2nd for me. Either combo would be cool.

That would be me, six-banger boy. BTW, with such a badass car as a six-banger coupe (in the ever-so-rare RED!) you must be the envy of every house wife in town. After all, that's the kind of car most women drive, isn't it?

Hey hey....as a matter of fact the last owner was a woman so you just proved my point smartass. I am in the middle of bodywork so it is red and primer gray. And I would put on gray with silver in a hearbeat but a single stage is cheaper. The ignorance is bliss isn't it. Besides, who said I am keeping the six..read the bottom....I believe it also says 6 to 8 conversion.

I actually like the creamy wimbelton white.

My first choice would be to paint it back the original color. (I know, I'm no fun at all, right). To me one of the really cool things about old cars is that they came in colors that you just don't see anymore.

I think that a modern color tends to detract from the "Classic-ness" of the overall package.

Of your choices definately black/gold or wimbelton/guardsman

Red and white would look nice with something to break the two apart, maybe a blue or black stripe about 3/8 wide between the white and red.

Just to clarify... Mineral gray is NOT the color on the movie car. That color is pepper gray metallic with black metallic stripes. Mineral gray has a copper color to it and it would be with solid black stripes (not metallic). Here is a link to a mineral gray and black mustang and here is a another link to several Eleanor cars. I personally think the color is different enough, but many people seem to get the 2 confused. That is the reason that I had begun to entertain other options along with the fact that every pickup truck that I see is some shade of metallic gray.

Yea ronstang, I borrowed that color combo from one of our offline discussions. I like the possibility, but I still have my reservations because it is a muted color like most of the cars on the road so it fits in the same category as the Mineral gray with black in my book. See the above comment about trucks.

It is still tough for me to get away from the black color. All the mustangs that I have ever owned have been black. The 69 Mach, 95 Cobra, and the 00 Saleen POS, were all black. (you know... the tradition thing)

The car has a serious attitude. The cam is very dominant, and the flowmasters with the headers let you know she is coming from a mile away. Keep that in mind when making your selection.

Hey John.....stick with tradition then and paint it black w/silver or titanium gray stripes.....you don't want gold stripes then it would look like my Hertz car.

Henry Ford once said, "You cannot build a reputation on what you are going to do". Writing your "someday" plans on a computer screen does not make it instantly true. Also, what point of your's did I prove? I was the one who said it, therefore it proves my point. The fact that you think that because I voted for a different color choice as you means I need to be shot is what pisses me off, not so much your choice in cars. It ain't what you start with, it's what you end up with that matters.
