How would you repaint my car??????

GT2K: funny you say that, since I have been seeing more of chip foose in action lately, I do like the two tone idea, and the hard and sharp lines and edges would make for a crisp color break indeed. As for your combo idea though, it sound like the comp cams car with gray on the bottom, way too Camaroish for me and I don't think I'd go with a drastic two tone, I'd rather change shades a few tones or use black instead I think. I have been wondering if now isn't a good time to shave the handles though or not.

Actually my wife and I joked the other day that she should just write overhaulin with my sob story and have me play dumb.

Blake: yeah that's kind of it, only looks to have a touch of purple instead of blue on my monitor, but that's the right track.

Wonder if you could flat charcoal the whole top surface to the car? Or somehow break it into the hood and cowl, without coming too close to the orginal Mach I treatment.... I'm personally stay away from too much Mach since it's a 'vert.

I have been thinking about going with the new Ford Cometition Orange on my '70 FB. If you don't like the orange idea, then I would vote for the gunmetal, I really like it as well.

To touch on GT2K idea, I have also been thinking this way for some time now. I photochoped 68&00 car to see what the paint scheme would look like with the E front end(also wanted to include front bumper with some minor mods!). Anyway this will give you an idea what two-tone would look like, not saying these colors but it least you get the idea. I think it would look cool but have not talked myself into taking the plunge yet

Oh I can definitly see the two tone pontential tieing in nicely with the Mustangs lines, it almost screams for it. I' will definitly try that in a chop as well. I can even picture the top color running down the whole front section.

Call me crazy, but lately I have even been considering stealing a styling cue from the 'gulp' chevy guys. Whn I look at that arrow peak on the hood of a 69' combined with the mach 1 scoop I always think of the mid 60's vette and how they treated that area. Instead of only considering Mustang styling cues, I wonder if something like this wouldn't look kind of neat? Not exacly like due to the dimensions, but the essence of it. Either just as an accent or maybe even in the two tone and using the lower color back on the hood stripe as well? I think I'm going to have my self a busy photchop weekend ahead.

Mmmmmmm, that stuff sounds cool. Cool to hear that you are considering the two tone. I think that'd work nicely too, especially if you decide you're done with the drop-top-mach theme.

hey pak, i used to have an 82 buick regal that was painted a color called "jadestone" similar to what you posted it was actually gray it just had a green undertone. in direct sunlight it was somewhere between a dark silver and charcoal gray but if it was overcast or near sunset the car looked jade green. kind of a cool color but i hate green so i didn't like it too much. i'll see if i can come up with a pic for you

notice in the top pic it's a silvery gray, but the bottom pic you can definitely see the green hue. if it were darker and done in a base/clear i could see it being a pretty sharp color

Yeah, I see what you mean B. I wouldn't mind seeing the same type of huechange only from dark gray to a slate blue kind of effect. I'd like to see this toyota up close, but I think it's definitly on the right track. It;s even close to a coated pantone clor I picked out the other day as a reference.

Or any 69' vert for that matter. I found a pic online of a car that has the shelby glass already so I have been working on that. It still has the mach spoiler though instead of the duck tail and I'd leave the front scopp black over painted, but you get the idea. EDIT: Darn, it's too big to post.

That's the method I would use too. (Hue/Sat) Re-size the pic. I want to take a crack at it.

Hey Blake, here's the pic I mentioned before. The lower quality looked bad, so I just posted it on my page and linked to it.

This is interesting to see. Bnickel sent me a great pic of a 69' with the Shelby glass parts I mentioned, and in Gulfstream no less. I do not like the gold stripe in the middle, but it gives you a good idea of what a cross breed looks like with such direct comparisons.

I'll keep that noted as incentive Dan. Right now I am leaning towards the stock Mustang though, just to keep the essence thier and balance out the Shelby parts so it seems a more subtle of a conversion. The sequence doesn't work on the stock set up does it?

Add the shaker what? That last pic is someone elses car, not mine and I don't intend to add the shaker and I'm pretty sure I' am not going to repaint it GSA. I just put that up becasue bnickel sent it to me and I thought it showed what I plan to do pretty well. I also thought if I could change the color on that pic that I'd have a good idea of how my car would turn out.

hey pak, you should have that pic of the hood now, but i'll see if i can post it here as well, my 'puter has been giving me problems lately so it may not attach. woohoo it worked that time, i figured out what i did, the first time i tried to post it it didn't have a valid .jpg extension and then i renamed it just ading the .jpg and it still didn't take it, this time i renamed the whole thing and added the.jpg and it worked. ok anyway, picture that hood in presidential blue with the charcoal gray mach "blackout" done in a satin/semi-flat paint and that's the look i'm trying to convey. wish like hell i knew how to use photoshop.
