What company do you have an interview at? I live in Phenix City, Al but work in Columbus Ga... I feel that Columbus has grown in the last year a great deal...

TSYS is the company. Do you know what the schools are like there? and What towns are good to live in? (North of Columbus)

I work for TSYS. It is a really good company to work for. I have been there 9 years and I'm a manager in Client Rleations. What job are you applying for?
Harris county is place to live and the school are good too. I live in Phenix City, Alabama but my husband and I both work in Columbus....
You can email me and I will be glad to answer any of your questions about TSYS.

Thanks for the info. I am interviewing for the HP-nonstop (Tandem) Systems analyst position on Aug 19th.

That job would be located at the East Data Center. I'm at the campus which is down town. Over the last year Columbus has really grown. If you need more information about TSYS or the area let me know. I will be glad to help you.. Also, good luck with your interview..

Hi im new to the forum but I've lived in Columbus GA for 22 of my 29 years. It's not that bad of a town, but be prepared to be bored to death. And be prepared for a rapidly growing crime rate, our city has grown alot in the past decade, but along with that so has our criminal mentality. Not to mention that the majority of people here are very rude and this is probably the most unfriendly town ive ever been to.

Thefts and burglaries are way up and our once almost non exsistent homicide rate has shot thru the roof. Theres no such thing as a crime free neighborhood here, I live in one of the nicer North Columbus neighborhoods, and in the 1.5 years ive been here there has been close to 10 auto breakins 2 neighbors got robbed and my next door neighbors 2003 Honda CBR 600 was stolen in the middle of a horrible night time storm. Sorry to sound so negative, but I thought I would give you an honest opinion, as for TSYS I know and have known lots of people that have worked for them, some hated it some like, all of them fear getting laid off!!!

columbus....blah. Boring town. Military town.

Not a whole lot to do. I have a few friends in Phenix city which is right around the corner.

Car club: streetmachines.org Be forwarned though...there are some real 'winners' in that club if you catch my drift.

I'm with Columbus City Stangz.
It's an all mustang club that has a variety of people (racers, show cars, vintage).
Some of our members work for TSYS too. Blondie has browsed our forums but she hasn't joined our club :( but I think it's because we are mustang only and her husband has a jam up Chevy.
At any rate, check us out at http://www.columbuscitystangz.org
We are having an event this Friday (8-19-05) at 7:00pm. If you are interested (and in town) check us out. Directions to the meeting place can be found here

I have lived in Columbus for most of my life. I grew up there and left in '84 because of a pathetic job market. The job market has gotten better but unfortunately, the population has gotten worse (Crime, Snobs and Me First Attitudes).

It wasn't bad years ago when the majority of the population here was native Southerners (Alabamians and Georgians). Since I moved back in 2000 from Middle Georgia (Friendliest place to live IMO), I went through Columbus then into East Alabama where I haven't looked back. The people in Alabama tend to be more genuine, friendly and hospitable than those on the Georgia side of the Chattahoochie River which is the state line around here. :nice:

Personally, I'll never live in Columbus again. Also of note, the State of Georgia has gotten more stupid laws than Alabama has. Alabama is much more laid back and less restrictive on personal matters. If you've been here a while it's a night and day difference. :notnice:

I still have to deal with Columbus on a daily basis as my job is located there. It's not that bad to work there during the day but I make sure to get out of town before nightfall. If you do move here, you have been forewarned by someone who has 40 years experience with this area. Good luck with the TSYS interview, they are a solid company to work for although their pay scales leave a lot to be desired (just like everyone else in this area does). :owned:

I might be a day late on this response and dollar short, but don't read this(Southeast forums) part of the forums much. Anyway.......

allcarfan what's the deal with you bashing street-machines? Did something happen between you and someone on there?? I know allot of the guys on there, some more than others, but the ones I do know good, seem to be pretty cool. Not trying to get into your business or take sides on anything,, But I have seen you bash street-machines on XFOA also and was wondering why? I hang out on street-machines was wondering why you have bad feelings toward the site(or people). If it's something personal then, I am sorry for prying.. Just can't figure out why you have bad feelings toward street-machines??

Grant it there is crime but what city doesn't have it. And compared to what I grew up in (Detriot MI), I would venture out and say, crime is here isn't that bad.

But I will agree with you about people being rude though. For being a small town it does seem to have allot of rude people. And to tell you the truth,, I won't let it get to me. :flag: Heck even in north, (thats right I am a Damn Yankee  ), people didn't seem this rude.

Ya really Shane...what's the deal. I know you had a few verbal's with a couple members...but who hasn't? And as Mike said...I've seen you bash the site a few times....when there are a lot of good guys on that club. Just because you dont like it (I think you make a comment about there not being alot of technical content) doesn't mean that others don't like it.

And as I recall....you used to be one of those "winnners" you so kindly refer to us as!! LOL
