combo questions PLEASE LOOK

Well this afternoon agter some rips down the road, i got to noticing my temp gauge fluctuating quite a bit. I am going to have to change a head gasket after further examination. A 30 psi difference in the cylinders(well on ly one) So my question will be what do you think that a set of highly ported e'7 heads with larger 186 154 valves do. I would transfer my valve springs guides, locks 10* retainers etc. from my current heads. With that said what kind of performance gains do you think that i could get out of them. I know i should save for the alums. but i may not be able to afford them right now. But have a frined that is gonna sell them and the trick flow track heat intake. Would this be a worthwhile combination. He ran a 8.36 with these heads, intake and an e-cam like mine.

Please give imput, does or don'ts

the whole E7 question has been beaten to a pulp. most would say "hey, F those ported E7s and get some AFRs." I am one of those people. the amount you spend on ported E7s is about half way there to some AFRs, which will outflow the E7s hands down. the idea of having a track heat intake isnt good for a street car persay. Granted, if your car is set up for some high revving, then definently get it. But id stick with a Street Heat or the Edel Performer. those two are by far the best for a mild street runner. trust me, youll be happier with the AFRs then you could EVER be with the ported E7s. Hope this helps

if you dont have money, just get some gt40 p heads. stock they will really out flow those damn e7's. plus there cheap, and ford made.

What heads do you have now to have good springs with 10* locks and retainers??? If your on a tight budget, get a set of P heads used from the classifieds, then take them to a shop and have them milled and cc'd.

well i was thinking the e7's would be alright because of the larger valves, i can have them flowed. The deal with them is that i could have them for around 100$. They have chevy valves in them, i was also wondering if anyone knows if the street heat and the track heat share the same lower. I can get the track heat and swap the uppers later to the street heat upper if so.

i know that the iron heads thing is about beat to death but the porting is awesome on these and they do have proven track potential. But i know i woul dbe happier with the alums. And i may go that route, i could always leave the car sitting until i got the heads i want. just a thought.

the heads on the car just had springs and retainers and a 5 way valve job etc. about 1 year ago.

plus the springs on them are good to 600 lift, and were just purchased last year with about 5000 miles on them

Track heat intake is too big for the ported e7 heads, also, about having your car set up for high revs, track heat is designed for 1500-6000 rpm and street intake is for idle - 5500 or something like that, if you're racing, even with stock gears your rev will be higher than 3000 rpm at least between the gears. gt-40p heads require modified headers cause the headers from an explorer are different and one of the sparkplugs will be in the way, which creates more headaches.

ok, so there is also a guy quite local that has a set of gt-40 irons, how hard to port these, and get them to run well. I can get them pretty cheap as well. I just can't see changing the head gasket, and not the heads at the same time.

car just may have to sit while i save for aluminums

i ran 12.8@106mph and have 264rwhp/280rwtq with gt-40 alum untouched and TFS track heat intake, with Ecam and 1.72 rr.

just for your info.
