I got to go to my first profesional car race at Leguna Seca last month and now I'm hooked. I want to be a race car driver even if it is only at the club level. We went out there to see the Rolex Sports Car Road and Track 250. It was freakin cool!! (I got to drive a 96 Porsche 911 around the track too)

They had the Grand Am cup cars there too and boy were thoses mustang impressive. The sounds from all the cars had me more wierd than a cup of coffee with a snickers bar melted in it. It was really neat to be able to watch the cars over the fence. Sure it wasn't c;oseups like you'd get watching it on TV, but they weren't dictating wich battle you watched on the field. Some of the best racing was going on far from the front runners.

So weekend before last I drug along on a 6 hour trip to OK City to attend a SCCA SOLO driving school. We spent the morning in the classroom learning things like, "If you have ABS and you don't feel that shake as it works your brakes on every corner your not driving right". Then in the afternoon we took the 4 door camry out on the track which consisted of a slalum, skid pad, and a short autocross course in this huge parking lot.

We learned a lot about how that car will react to throttle and steering inputs at speed (understeer). We had a blast out there on the track, and I'm thinking that I've got the fiance hooked on racing too now.

I am planning to attend another school in August in Albuquerque. I hope to have the stang together for that one, but that's going to require me to save up a bunch of funds and get my butt out there and get all the crap that's wrong with it fixed. I'm hoping to do at least 5 Solo events besides those two schools this year. Even if that means driving 500 miles to find a race because I'm committed to racing now.
