Hey everyone,
I was at my local speed shop(http://www.gofastfords.com) getting a new quote on my 4.10 gear and ds install. WOOO HOOO $850 for the gears, oil, ds, and labor
they are going in next week.
Anyway as you see in my sig I want to add new the Comp Cam grind xe270(Stage II) and springs to the stang. I have a 2002 GT. I was discussing the necessary ECU flashing for the new cams to the get the idle straight and the tuner at the shop asked me about my cam choice. He cautioned me about the possibility of valves contacting the piston due the "rather" long duration of the cams(270/274 234/238). He told be he has seen 2 cars in the Charlotte-Concord area that have had valve noise and upon tear down they have found where the valves have put small little doghnuts(half- circles) on the top of piston from the valves.
I believe in some other threads it was proposed that some of the people who had wierd noises after the cam install should check for valve to piston contact. I think everyone kinda dismissed this idea. Anyways I'm still going to install the cams, I'm just going to get a bore scope and pull the plugs after the install and break in to make sure I'm not getting any contact.
So does anyone have a 2002 GT with a Romeo (11 bolts in valve cover) with the Comp Cams or a cam of similiar duration. 270/270.. 234/238 @ .050 with .550 lift. I'm looking for comments on valve train noise after the install?? or any other issues.
thanks
