deciding on which cam to choose, F303 cam is a good cam 226 duration, 5.12 lift w/ 1.7 roller .544 lift. has great choppy idle too. Comp Cams offers the xe281hr cam with 220/220 duration, .512 lift w/ 1.6 rockers too. both cams have same LSA, but the F303 is A LOT cheaper than the comp cam. is the Xtreame energy comp cam worth the extra money? or should i settle for the cheaper F303?

The Comp is the better cam. It's up to you to decide whether you want to spend the money for it or not. The Comp XE cams have very quick ramp rates, meaning the valves open and close very quick, which is a good thing. I'd say the only cams better than the Comp XE cams are custom cams (FTI, Buddy Rawls, etc.)

Exactly why I chose the Comp..alpha cams are 20yr old technology...still do the job, but there are SO many better ways to go these days.

yeah but what im asking is if the comp cams are worth the extra $300. the comp cams and lifters set are $300 more than a alpha cam and lifters. i just wanna know if the comp cams (with the same lsa, lift and duration) of an alpha cam is a lot MORE performance or just a little bit. i dont want to spend an extra $300 for a cam that has a better ramp rate but overall performs maybe two tenths of a second quicker than what a F303 cam would in the 1/4

it will give you a more broad powerband, and allow you to make better use of the heads you'll be running. It's not about the #'s of the cam..it's more about how the #'s of the cam will work with the rest of your components. It all comes down to the combination, not any one part. Will you make more power...more power across the band, more power sooner in the band, and more peak...all in all better quality performance. You should also check your PVC if running flat top pistons regardless of your cam choice. Last point is..if the XE cams were no better than the alpha cams for a mild street mod mustang...then I'd have put one in my car and put the money else where.
