i have a 88gt with less than 70k on it i recently did a compression test on it to see if i was gonna re-build it but i dont think i did it right it cam out more than 10%(i think next i will do a leak down). is it common for rings to go bad in only 69k in our 5.0's???????????????????? i am just gonna put it back together slap a vortech on it and hope for the best. it has been since fall that i have driven it and cant stand it no more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i havnt heard my flows in about 3 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im dieing.

Cam out? The valvetrain needs to be working for a proper compression check. How is air going to get in there and get compressed w/o the cam in the engine.

That is not a good plan, think about it.

70psi is nessasary for combustion. Yes fuel will burn with less, but to actually combust, it needs that kind of pressure. TheUser: Check that cylinder again, if it still gives you below 70psi, try adding a little oil to the combustion chamber, if it does nothing, you probally have a valve train or head problem, if it rises, you have bad rings most likley.
