On my 92 Gt with a Vortech V3 and a 2.90 pulley, I should be making about 8-10psi at 6k. I installed it this spring and been upgrading and adding as time and money allow. I have had a bypass valve on it for a few months now and I was just now able to get a boost guage on it to see what pressure I'm building (first 2 innovate guages were DOA). I went with a autometer mechanical guage (have not been pleased, trying to return). I test drove it after install and was showing no boost. I find that hard to believe. I attempted to blow through the vac line and then ran some compressed air into it, needle moved. I cleaned up all the T's in my vac lines and made sure they were run well and efficently with minimial branches. I ran a new line from the vac tree instead of the manifold to the boost guage. By now it was late but I think I saw about 2 psi when ripping down the street. Then as a matter of troubleshooting I had a sink in the pit of my stomach that possibly I installed the bypass valve backwards. If I did, would the boost never build as it would just be recirculating back into the charger? The butt dyno does not feel like it is not making boost but the guage says otherwise. The valve is the TBV100, not the standard vortech valve. Wondering if it is valved in reverse of the bosch unit. not finding much online.
-I think the FMU is seeing boost since when I stomp on the gas, I go fat into the 9s and create a cloud out the exhaust, so it certianly seems to be working. (FMU to be removed sometime this year)
-I certianly hear the charger spool up with RPM and it does feel peppier than when I had the starter pulley on there that came with the base kit
-I'm running a griptec, and its new, belt is tight so I do not think its belt slip
-I have a 75mmTB and a edelbrock intake but still stock heads so I am surley building more boost than that
Any Ideas on good way to test this? Right now the "bottom" of the valve is connected to the discharge tube carrying boost and the "side" discharge of the valve is connected to the intake tube after the maf, before the charger. the vac connector is on the bottom. That is the way the images were in the vortech instructions, but with this being a different valve (look the same) I wonder if I am actually backwards now........If it is backwards, would that lead to low/no boost build at the manifold?
