I have a 90 notch with 302 bout 160k and motor besides boltons is completly stock my ? is if i took my heads off to have them rebuilt and had a thinner gasket put on that would raise my compression correct? and if that is correct i would make more power i can run up to 110 octane cause the gas station next to my house sells it which i do sometimes now cause i like the smell... also do i want to advance my timing as far as i can with 110 would that make most power or no. what i am getting at if i raise my compression a little with thinner gasket and advance my timing to ping and back it off a little would i make any more power than i am now... right now i am advanced some running 93 most of the time but running 110 dont bother me if i will make more power of those mods, and if so would i notice a difference?? Any advice would really help me you guys thanks in advance...
And in case your wondering it is a 5 speed
homemade air intake
headers and off road x, pipes out the back
i also bought a adj. pressure regulator putting that on tomorrow
i got 4.10's with king cobra clutch
i get 13.9's now at bout 96m.p.h and 1.89 60ft
Thanks again you guys

i wouldnt bother running 110 with a stock motor. youre not gonna get enough power to justify spending that much. not to mention 110 octane loves to ruin o2 sensors. people dont run 110 octane to make more power, they run it because they have too. you are right that putting a thinner gasket will increase the CR but not enough to require 110 octane. now, if you were spraying say a 250 shot of gas i would run 110 but it doesnt look like you are so just stick with the 93

what about timing advance can you advance it to much?
and with thinner gasket would it raise it to much to use 93 ocatane any more...see by me 110 is only 3.89 a gallon and premium is 3.25 so i mean i am not worried bout the money

yeah, you can advance it too much. eventually the computer will stop advancing it past where you set base timing. i dont think you could lower the compression that much with just a head gasket. now if you cut the head down really far and used a small head gasket

The thinner gasket is not going to yeild you a significant CR gain..nor will running THAT much higher octane. I think your imagining significant gains that just aren't going to be there. I would not look for anything over 14 with stock heads in place...MAYBE 16..but you won't FEEL any true difference. If you want to FEEL a gain, look at a power adder or h/c/i addtion...that's were your power is going to come from.
