So...

To make a long story short. Got a 2001 Cobra, had an electric waterpump installed when I got it. A week ago the pump shorted out, and was wired into the main harness. Soon after check engine light came on. 4 O2 sensor and evap canister codes came up as well as a P0206 (reflash comp), I tried to reset codes and the whole bit with no resolution. So... the question is...

Will getting the ecm reflashed cure the issue or does anyone have any insight to if the computer will need replacement?

I guess what I'm wondering is if with this code, is there a way to tell if it actually can be reflashed, or will I need to wait to get them to try first. When we get these codes at work we have to send the car to the dealer, as we can only reflash chevy's.

In my mind it would make sense that if it actually fried it there would be alot more problems then there are. Not just a few returning codes and no real drivability issues.

Any insight will help because I don't want to spend $40 to get the computer reflashed only to have them tell me that I need a new computer.

Thanks in advance...

what codes did it pull exactly?
Did you fix the short with the water pump?

Have you tried removing the ground from the battery for 30minutes and letting the pcm reset?

I don't remember the code numbers exactly right now except for the P0602, but the others were inoperative 02's on all 4 banks (so 4 codes there) and two for the evap system leaks.

Yes I did the reset procedure for 1/2 hr. I also cleared the codes 2 times and both times they came right back at the next shutdown/startup.

I have fixed the waterpump issue (got a belt driven one and pulley).

I had a little chat with the Foreman at the SVT dealership here and he is confident that it can be reflashed. I'm just seeing if anyone has had any 1st hand experience with this code (Im sure no one has had this exact experience)

Thanks for the tip though blueblazes, in case I didn't know about that.

Well the codes I got go as follows (finally remembered the paper they were written on.

P0443 Evap Purge control valve
P0451 Evap Purge Control valve
P0135 H02511 Heater Circuit Fault
P0141 H02512 Heater Circuit Fault
P0155 H02521 Heater Circuit Fault
P0161 H02522 Heater Circuit Fault

and the good one (my favorite) P0602 (I can't remember the wording on that) but basically it was reflash computer required.
