It'll work, but there's more to it than just a simple plug and go. Head over to 94-95 Tech and do a search for PIH swap, you'll find more information than you'll be able to read tonght. You're better off getting a tune on the newer, faster computer than running the old one though. In order to run it, you need to re-pin some of the EEC harness, add a BAP sensor, and run an aftermarket fan controller because the A9L doesn't have the capability to run the factory electric fan.
Just to add, because I saw some on there a little while ago, there's a couple TwEECer RT's on ebay for either $400 or $450. You'll probably come close to that amount doing the A9L swap, so why not pick one up and tune it instead?
