Is there a difference between computers in automatics and manuals?? I ask because i have an 87 manual converted to mass air but i have a 89 automatic computer... Will it effect my performance or hurt anything??..Thanks for any information

no, the 89 computer is supposed to be the best computer. its an A9L, which has a better fuel curve or something in it...i dont remember. but from what i understand, you dont need to worry because the aod is shifted by line pressure and isnt shifted by the computer like in the aode that was in the 94-95 mustangs

There are actually quite a few differences in the two, but in your situation it doesnt matter. If you had an automatic with a manual computer you might be chasing some gremlins right now.

Why would that be? I didn't think that the auto was shifted by the computer..

its not, however the auto does put an extra load on the engine that the manual computer has no idea how to adjust for. Things like cruising strategies WOT strategies and limp mode are all different between the two. Sorry, I am at work at the moment and I dont have the resources to look up the exact differences.
