Its always been a Neon.

most SRT4 sites insta-ban doofus owners who say "Its not a Neon, its a Dodge SRT4". the local forums has that on the registration page.

i go to the meets with my buddy, (he has a S1 srt4 with additional goodies) and im impressed on how far they have come as a community, they continue the work they will be the next DSM's. this group hates ricers, stupid neon owners, and anyone in particular who dont know wtf they are talking about and just spout bull****.

Yeah you joke but I've come across some quick ones............ 230 hp on a lighter car = 260 HP on heavier car.

Go ahead and laugh but that's basically what they put to the wheels. Most people believe SRT-4's make about 260hp at the crank.

It's nothing special, 4cyl with a turbo is still a 4 cyl, with you guessed it, a turbo

now if the 2.4L 4cyl was N/A with 230hp that would be something to talk about but it's not

mustang cobra, or cobra simply for the ease of saying. this thread was more to make fun of the srt4 owners who say their cars are NOT neons. I've never heard of, or met a cobra owner who thought their car isn't a mustang.

Those SRT-4's aren't too bad, some are pretty dang quick.

That stuff is like saying "It's not a civic, it's an SI." Some stupid guy on a local car forum around my area argued with everyone that his car was an "SI" and NOT a Civic. Talk about a dumbass!!

It would be more like Cobra owners trying to totally disassociate with V6er, GT's and even Mach's.

Or like Z06 owners trying to say they don't own a vette.

yes those numbers are rated at the wheels, not the crank. my stock srt4 (neon) dyno'd 230 at the wheels while my heavier stock '02 gt dyno'd 220 to the wheels. will be going stage 4 soon and am expecting 400+ whp no problem. looking at roughly the same kit price for the stage 4 as what i paid for my kenne bell kit on the mustang, but with the srt being several hundred pounds lighter i expect it to be pretty quick. and why would a 4cyl neon have to be "N/A" 230 whp/260-270 crank hp to be something "special" when my '02 N/A mustang was only rated at 220 whp/260 crank hp?

My personal opinion is "HP to the wheels is Hp to the wheels". I don't give two monkeys nuts how you get it there.

cuz that 220 is n/a and pretty de-tuned at low compression. Stick a turbo on that stang you'll see better numbers on the stang than you will from the neon; without changin internals or rear end too.
