I am in the process of replacing the worn out aluminum bearing retainer on my T5 tranny. The two tech articles that I read say to install with the narrow drain at the bottom and the wide one at the top. Problem is, the original retainer was just the opposite. I don't know if it had been previously changed. What do I do?

First off, if you are replacing it anyways, I would sugest upgrading to a steel bearing retainer for the added stregth and longevity of the part.

Second, the drain holes should match up in size with the holes on the case. Puting the narrow one at the bottem and the wide one on the top should be the way to go.

Definitely going with the steel retainer. There are no holes in the case to match up to. It is just open to the case behind the bearing. Thanks
