Confused about rear suspension.

I picked up a rear end with 373 gears to swap out my blown rear. The guy says it is a direct bolt in replacement but it has lower control arms. He said something about doing away with the shocks or something so I don't get it. I know very little about suspension. I guess I just don't know where you would bolt the lowers to or what to do with the shocks. He said he put them on to prevent wheel hop but I have never had that in my car. Does anyone have any idea what I am talking abou? ANY help would be appreciated.

It sounds like it has aftermarket lower control arms. Many people remove the QUAD shocks when installing aftermarket lower control arms. They are there to help prevent wheel hop, but many aftermaket lower control arms help remedy this problem so people do away with them to save a little weight and/or give more clearance for wider tires.
This is of course optional, so your new rear end should bolt right in place of the older one

do a search for "quad shocks" if you want to read up more on the topic. There's hundreds of threads related to that

cool, I did a little reading thanks. I will keep my quad shocks on as long as he didn't delete the bracket but I think it is still there. I am assuming that the afermarket lowers bolt right to where the stock ones went. Thanks for the info.
