Ok, I am checking Currie`s website

http://www.currieenterprises.com/cestore/productsRE.aspx?id=2798

Anyone know if this is what I need? and if it is, what else do I need?

The rear thats in it now whines a little when it gets warm and your coasting, is that an issue? Does that have soemthing to do with backlash?

That link doesn't load for me. My plan was to go with Currie as well, mainly due to ease of selecting a "crate" rearend. But then again, since I'm going to source my diff from Griggs Racing, I should look more seriously into Moser and Strange - I'd like to get a kit with everything but the diff, though, in 9".

I would add that I based my decision on a torque sensing rear on wanting a "road race" type of ride. If you're more of a 1/4 mile guy, the detroit locker might be just fine. I also didn't want a "clacky" rear end in low speed and parking lot maneuvers, so I shied away from detroit lockers . . .

Currie wanted over $1100 for their chunk.

I found a local shop that can do the whole job including pressing the bearing on for less then $1000, I`m going that route mainly cause its less money.

FYI, its a shop that does 4 by 4 rock crawler stuff, says most of what he does is rear end for 4 wheel drive lovers, yall might look into that if you have the same issue I did about wondering who would be able to do quality work.

so did you end up going TrueTrac? You may want to go over to http://www.corner-carvers.com/ and have a look at their "experience with truetrac differential" thread, but only the last half of the posts. It goes back 5 years to when they were having some problems with low-quality bolts. Corner-carvers is always good reading, leave it to racers to find the weakness in any product! ;-)

+1 on the TrueTrac. That's the style I plan to go with, the torque-sensing or torque-biasing. If you really want to splurge, you might consider a Torsen T2 or T2R, or even a Black Gold diff, 1/4 tight. Spendy though - if you're not producing a ton of power I'm sure the TrueTrac will be fine, but here's a link to some comparisons of Truetrac vs. Torsen - Torsen was the first, IIRC, and Truetrac is a cheaper copy:

+2 on the TrueTrac. I've upgraded all my 9" Trac Loks to non-clutch type carriers. Currently using the TrueTrac on a 352 (302 stroked). No noise whatsoever. My other Mustang will get the Detroit "soft" locker to try.

Dennis112 on this site uses a TrueTrac behind a stroked 351 with slicks at the track with no problems.

It`ll be outta the shop like Monday

I went 3.55 gears, positrack ( I think truetrac, not sure), and for $1100 he is doing all of it, pressing the axle bearings and all.

I`ve been under the car POR15 stuff. But I`m ready to drive it again soon.

I`ll know alot more Monday then I do now.
