This is my first fox large scale project. Can some one give me the low down at removing the center console? Thanks

Not that hard .. Open glovebox-2screws, take off plastic cover under steering wheel-also 2screws for console. Pop the plate that goes around the hvac controls off. Unscrew shifter knob. Pop off shifter boot. 2screws under that. Go to back sides of console. Pop off the plate. Two 8mm screws for armrest on each side. After you take the armrest off there are 2 screws underneath to hold the console down... If this a a big project for you, you might want to sell the car..you should be able to figure this out without any help.

you want to remove the whole ash tray panel? or just the flip up console/armrest? for the arm rest look in the back seat on the part of the console towards the ground there will be two plastic caps. one on each side. try them off with a little screw driver, and remove the screws behind them. as for the ashtray panel. remove the system as described above. then remove the shifter knob, and bezel. there are two more screws under there. take out the screws, and the mirror switch, and cig lighter.

That was a somewhat harsh answer since the extent of the project was not stated. It might just be the start of a roll cage or just a new carpet. Besides, we all need to learn some time.
What is the project and plan?

Thanks for the reply. This my first full tear apart fox project. I did the engine and tremec and rearend in my black car...............................just never torn apart a fox interior before. I did a foolish thing and bought a car off ebay and it's not quiet as advertised. The interior is gross and disguting. Going to replace the carpet, fix the ashtray lid, headliner, you know all the things that get neglected by people. Have a good evening.

I would say its not very harsh but very true. Taking the console out is a very basic procedure its not like he was asking how to do a heater core in the thing. To the op just take your time and look things over and you will see these are very easy cars to work on if you are even just a little mechanically inclined. Good luck with your interior resto. I did the same in my 87 complete redo and Late model restoration will have just about everything you will need. Hard to beat a complete carpet kit for around 300 bucks. Have fun man!

Thanks for the LRS video, Vaz88gt. It is bookmarked for future reference. I wonder how many screws got left out when I had the clutch replaced or the prev. owner did the carpet. Ford seems to have gone nuts (or screwy) with the location and number of their screws for a long time. If unsure, I prefer to ask rather than break something. And I've been taking apart/reassembling Fords and GM's for a long time.
Tubes, good luck on the interior- it ought to smell better. And you might break even with all the change you find. I found a .22 lr hollow point and a .45 shell under the back seat that were not mine.
