Continental extreme contact DWS??

Wait.... you dont understand tires do you? Soft rubber is for the treads, to give alot of grip. Your sidewalls are made of steel covered in rubber. I dont pretend to know how sidewalls flex, but I would assume that the continentals have less steel in the sidewall making them flex more. The soft sidewalls have nothing to do with soft rubber.

I am sure there is always a better tire until you get to the point of slick tires. I was saying that if you think the eagles are better than the BFgoodrich tires, and in my opinion the continentals are worse than the BFgoodrich, perhaps you are best off going with the Goodyears again.

What does having it be a daily driver have to do with anything? everything we have mentioned are all season tires.

I think the optimal setup would be to have a winter and summer performance set.

I would also like to point out that a 1968 mustang weighed only 2700 pounds, you mustang is a thousand pounds heavier, I would guess that the body roll caused by the soft sidewalls of the continentals would be less exaggerated by a thousand pound lighter vehicle.

My first mustang was an ’02 Mineral Grey Premium GT Convertible (loved that car!). I absolutely hated the OEM Goodyears?. Not only were they bad when raining, heck, they were no good when it was dry! I started looking for something to replace them and came upon the Conti’s. I read all the reviews about them and decided to purchase a pair.

Winter was on the way here in Austin and on occasion, we get a little ice snow/ice here (not normally, but sometimes we do). Just so happened after these tires came in, guess what? It snowed. So, I took the car out for a little drive down my street. I had absolutely no issues getting out of my neighborhood and headed to the highway. Again, no problem. I was very, very pleased with them.

Fast forward to Spring/Summer. As for how they performed when it rained, it was like night and day comparing the OEM’s to the Conti’s. I don’t race my cars (track/street) although I like to drive ‘spirited’ every now and then. The one BIG gripe I had about them were how ‘soft’ they felt in turns. I knew it was because of the sidewalls, but I knew that when I bought them from the responses I read online.

Anyway, if you’re not driving ‘spirited’ or on the track, you probably won’t be happy with them. Otherwise, for daily driving, I was very pleased.

For my NEW 2012, I know some people don’t like them, but I like them a lot. I only wish they had a higher tread wear rating. For $416 bucks apiece, sheesh!

WOAH, you paid $416 a piece for the contis? where do you live that makes them so expensive?

No, no, no... I'm sorry, I wasn't very clear. The $416 figure is for the new Pirelli's, lol. The Conti's, back when I bought them in 2002, were only $90 apiece. After a couple of weeks, I went back online and checked again because my brother wanted a set, the price had gone up to $145 each. I guess a lot of people started ordering them and they wanted to maximize their profits. Again, this was way back in 2002 though.

I can get them for 700 for all 4......But i guess Im gnna have to go with the Eagle GTs....I do drive "spirited" a bit but mostly calm and smooth. But I need to tire thatll help me get around the dumbass drivers of California....theres too many here and ive been dealing with them since I started driving. Dont wanna be racist but asians.......I went in light snow with eagle GTs up at Mt high resort. they were fine. Just nothing heavy.
