OK, here we go... Does anyone have step by step instructions on how to replace/repair the rear window motors on an 87 convertable mustang? Both sides have went out and it is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance...

Hey I just ordered a new motor for mine, it is a 93 gt conv. that I just got saturday. All you have to do is take that big panel out (the panel with the rear speaker in it) the seatbelt will still be connected but you can just lay it aside. Then you look right past the seatbelt support bar and their will be a black water shield. The motor is right be hind that. If you can't find it look for yellow/lt blue and grey/org wires. Those are the window motor wires. Sorry if I confuse you it is kind of hard to explain.

I had never replaced a power window motor till the other day and it wasn't on a mustang. It was on an olds achieva. My recommendations are to take your time, watch the way you dis-assemble it, support the window in frame with duct tape or something, and have alot of bandaides ready(damn sheetmetal).
Good Luck

the motor is a piece of cake. Remove the interior trim panel, take out the splash shield and it bolts into the regulator...you don't have to support the window or anything. I was a dumb@$$ and pulled the regulator so I spent three days trying to get it adjusted right when I put it all back together... Shouldn't take you more than 2 hours per side

Yeah, its really no biggie, just pull the stuff outta the way and remove the bolts holding the motor in.

anyone know if there is a kit or way to rebuild the existing motors (other than cannabalize a junk yard unit?). i have been meaning to call electrical repair shops and see how much it would cost. 75 bucks a piece is a lot.
i dont think i have come across rebuild kits.
