Hello.
Great forum. Learned a lot already.
Have 1986 mustang convertible and I'm attempting to rebuild the mechanics on the top to raise and lower. Now, nothing, but the motor makes noise, so I have just replaced the hoses and have purchased new cylinders. But, there are no bolts on either side of the car for the top push rod to thread through. Just missing. What can I use? It does look like threads on one side of the hole, so I could use a smooth bolt with threads at the end? (cylinder has a nylon bushing on the rod.)

Is there a specific bolt for this? or should I make one....
Thanks for any help.

Hey, Thanks!
so far, it looks like a "clevis pin" could work using a cotter key if it's the right size and length. the other problem is the passenger side is not coming close to the pin and hook to lock the top down. There are adjustments to this, but if you've ever seen an 86 convertible, you know just how complicated it can be. Multiple hinges and bolts that are involved. I'll keep at though, because I can see just how cool it will be to cruise down the road with the top down.

Thanks again.
