Anyone ever replaced the rear glass on their 94-04 mustang, I am thinking that a new rear glass comes with the material that surrounds it already attached to it. I am having some leaks around my rear glass and wanted to replace it and the material, anyone know of a good place to get one so that it matches with my current black top on a 98 cobra, and if anyone has done it how hard is it to do

Ask the Ford dealer who is the best trim shop, the one they use. Expect to pay $350-400+ installed.

I had mine replaced because of a flaw in the window. The window alone from ford is close to $1300 (canadian dollars). The dealer sent it out to a automotive window repair shop to have it done. It's not easy. And yes the window does come with the material.

damn ford + Canadien exchange = poor real fast.

I paid @ 350 for mine installed at a really good upholstery/Top shop. I was getting the rest of the top done and interior also so it may have been slightly discounted.

I replaced mine after I blew it out with my subs...that was a fun day. Anyway, the glass needs to be sewn in and I paid 250 for the window and 250 to have someone install it. So all in all a 500 setback.

I had mine replaced about four months ago, because something hit it and put it in a million pieces. The only thing that held it in place was the tint. Insurance covered it and the upholstery shop charged $560 installed. Alot of Ford dealers won't touch the back windows.

I've heard horror stories about people trying to do them theirselves. Unless you have some kinda industrial sewing machine thing, i'm not sure how you'll do it. Mine zippers in the top and has is sewed in the bottom.
Mine was the gay clear plastic.....one freezing night at the bar, i decided to take a couple chicks out to the parking to to check out the stang. Took the top down to show them the roll bar......snap, crackle, pop.....
Clear packaging tape works wonders.....

Never ever lower a vinyl convertible top when it is below 65 degrees

Never leave the top down over night. The resting position is the up position, when it is down it is being stressed.

The Robbins website has tons of good info on taking care of tops.

I found a place that offers the rear glass already attached to the material surrounding it, all you have to do is install it in the car like that, but I wonder how that would work, I heard on some cars they zipper them in

If you are concerned about leaks, dont install it yourself. Just save the money and have it done right. Unless one of your other hobbies is sewing? Then you may be able to do it okay...but I doubt that anyone on this forum can sew anything.
